This two day course is a starting point for beginners, you will look at the theory behind phlebotomy and will be given the opportunity to develop your practical skills using recent up to date techniques and equipment. When taking blood, you have to be careful that you

  • don’t disturb any nursing care that the patient is receiving

  • label the samples carefully
  • store the blood correctly
  • deliver the samples promptly to the lab

Patients may be nervous about having their blood taken, so you have to reassure them and put them at ease. 

Theory- You will learn essential phlebotomy techniques, health & safety, human anatomy to accurately identify veins and draw blood.

Practical- The practical part is divided into two parts, first part will be done using manikins where you will be taught how to draw blood, and reduce risks. The second part of the practical is where you will draw blood from fellow participants.

Phlebotomy can be a rewarding career choice even for individuals who don’t come from a medical background, being a phlebotomist is not just about drawing blood you will be the backbone of the medical team.
